Jones County's industrial authority has signed the first tenant for their new 972-acre industrial park.

The authority's executive director, Doug Redmond, says a Lizella company, NFI Installations, has agreed to buy 15 acres in the Griswoldville Park in east Jones County.

The company will bring 25 jobs to Jones County and may expand in the future, he said.

Redmond described NFI as a service provider to the energy industry: Among other things, they run conveyor belts that move coal from rail cars to bunkers at coal-burning plants like Plant Scherer in Juliette.

He said parts for those conveyor belts will be assembled in one of the two buildings NFI will construct on the site. The other building will store equipment.
