"If they would have done it right in the first place, we would have had this addressed," said Jones County resident Richard Tipton.

He was one of dozens who gathered for a Jones County commission meeting where fire station expenses were questioned.

"They're not taking accountability or responsibility for the loss of our tax dollars," he said, referring to members who approved construction without putting a project up for bid.

Two dead in Jones, Baldwin fatal accidents

Two people died in separate fatal accidents in Jones and Baldwin counties this morning.

Both accidents happened on Georgia Highway 22, several miles apart.

The Jones County wreck happened around 11:10 a.m. Monday on Highway 22, about two miles north of Gray.

The Jones County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Mary L. Cramer of Haddock. They say she was headed west toward Gray, but made a U-turn to turn around and was struck by a pickup truck.

CGTC Board of Directors Chair elected

CGTC Board of Directors Chair elected

Houston County retired superintendent was also elected to the vice chair position for 2014-2015.

Twiggs County resident and retired educator, Sarah Hawthorne, was named as the chair of CGTC's Board of Directors.

According to a release, she also served as the vice chair of the Board in the past year, when CGTC and MGTC merged.

She'll serve a one-year term.

CGTC's board of directors is comprised of a group of business leaders from the eleven counties CGTC serves in Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Dooly, Houston, Jones, Monroe, Peach, Pulaski, Putnam and Twiggs counties.
