Man accused of hitting wife with car at gas station

A man is in jail today after allegedly hitting his wife with his car at a Macon gas station Monday.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office says Jones County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Alfrado Hester, age 49 of Gray.
Hester is charged with criminal attempt to commit murder after investigators say he allegedly hit his wife with his car.

That happened around 11:25 a.m. Monday, at a Sunoco gas station on Houston Avenue in Macon.
Hester's wife,Angela Hester, age 37 of Gray was taken to the Medical Center, and is listed in critical condition.

FBI now offering $20K reward for missing Putnam County woman

(WXIA) -- The FBI is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for any information about a missing Putnam County woman.

Just after noon Tuesday, Georgia Department of Natural Resources rangers launched a specially equipped pontoon boat brought in from Lake Lanier to search a portion of Lake Oconee for 87-year-old Shirley Dermond.

She's been missing for exactly one week since the decapitated body of her husband, Russell, 88, was found in the garage of their nearby lakefront home.

He says scammers have found a new way to take victims' money.

A new scam is making its way through Georgia and Sheriff John Cary Bittick is warning all citizens not to fall victim to this most recent scam.

As with most scams, the latest involves the victim turning money over to a stranger. But since most victims have learned the hard way that money shouldn’t be wired or transferred to an unknown bank account or banking institution, scammers have found a new way to take victims’ money.

Jones Co. deputies raid alleged pot 'grow house'

The Jones County Sheriff's Office says they're raiding a marijuana-growing operation in a home today.

Chief Deputy Barbara Burnette says the "grow house" was found in a double-wide trailer home on Luke Smith Road.

That's off Lite-n-Tie Road, south of Gray.

Burnette called it a sophisticated operation where much of the home's interior was torn out to make room for plants.

The Jones County Sheriff's Office says it is investigating a man's death.

Deputies Search for Jones County Burglary Suspects

Two people broke into two Jones County gas stations Monday and took the cash registers.

Now deputies are searching for the two suspects shown in surveillance photos.

They broke into Old Clinton Gas & Grocery and Creekside Gas by using a blunt object to break the entry door glass, according to a release.

One was wearing a light-colored ski mask, a light-colored hooded jacket with buttons down the front, cargo shorts with drawstrings and tennis shoes.

The other suspect is described as a heavy-set male who was wearing a dark-colored pullover hoodie, cargo shorts and sneakers.

Officials believe the vehicle involved was a dark-colored, four-door midsize sedan.

One of the store owners is offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects.
