Jones County Man Accused of Fatally Shooting Girlfriend | Crime
A Jones County man is now facing a manslaughter charge for fatally shooting his girlfriend in May.
A grand jury indicted Waylon Goodson this month on a charge of involuntary manslaughter.
An incident report from the sheriff's department said Goodson fatally shot 22-year-old Brittany Grizzle on May 6 while handling his handgun.
It happened in a home on the 3600 block of Joycliff Road.
The report says deputies found Grizzle in Goodson's arms, and he told them, "he killed his girl."
It says, "He told me he was handling his .357 revolver, trying to get the four rounds lined up in the cylinder so they would be the next in line for the barrel. He told me that he had the hammer pulled back and the trigger pulled to release the cylinder and allow it to free spin."
The Aug. 6 indictment says investigators believe the shooting was not intentional.
No trial date has been set.
