Drugs Found in Gray Man's Car

A Gray man was arrested by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office after a traffic stop on I-75 on May 12.

That's according to a Monroe County Sheriff's Office news release.

David Moore, 54, was driving southbound on I-75 when a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputy noticed that he was not wearing a seatbelt. The deputy stopped the car, ran Moore’s driver’s license and the license came back suspended. The deputy arrested Moore for driving on a suspended license.

While doing an inventory of Moore’s red Honda Del Sol, glass pipes used for smoking meth were found as well as a small amount of marijuana.

The deputy noticed several items in the trunk of the vehicle that he suspected were used for manufacturing methamphetamine and made a request for assistance from the Forsyth-Monroe County Drug Task Force.

Crimestoppers Luncheon

The Rotary Club of Centerville hosts the fifth annual David Pierce Memorial Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 18th at the Museum of Aviation, Century of Flight Building to benefit Crimestoppers and its Student Crimestoppers programs. Governor Sonny Perdue will be the guest speaker.

"In 2010, Macon Regional Crimestoppers' tipsters offered information leading to the arrests of 428 arrests from Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Houston, Jones, Monroe, Peach and Twiggs counties on various charges.  More than $22,000.00 in stolen property was recovered, and more than $2,500.00 worth of drugs was seized.

Those tips, which resulted in a payout of about $62,500.00 in rewards, were made possible because of the donations to the nonprofit organization. The program allows callers to remain anonymous when submitting tips on wanted people in an eight county area and receive up to a $1,000.00 upon the wanted person's arrest.
