Nature Near You

Sounds silly to have to seek out nature when it appears to be all around us.

But www.naturefind.com has taken it upon themselves to be searchable so that you can find nature near you, where you can enjoy it. (Driving by a crowd of pine trees on your way to work doesn't count, sorry.)

I searched Macon, Ga and found the following day-trip type adventures within 40 miles:

Beautiful Morning!

Juliette missed the rain yesterday afternoon as most of it passed to our South. It looks like the lawns and gardens will have to wait until our next opportunity for rain. This morning we are enjoying a relief from the heat and humidity. I enjoyed sleeping with the windows open and waking up to the sound of the birds singing. At 6:00am it was 59 degrees with a clear sky and light breeze.

Many viewers are telling us that they're hearing the cicadas.

Have you seen any of these noise-making culprits? Some viewers are telling us they are louder this week than they were when they first emerged.

Save a Cup for Earth Day, Get Free Coffee

In honor of Earth Day today, you can bring your travel mug to Starbuck's and get a free cup of coffee.

On any day though, you can bring your travel mug or tumbler to Starbuck's and receive 10 cents off your purchase, or you can order your drink "for here" and drink out of a non-paper cup.

Starbuck's Earth Day article says that 1.2 million people participated last year. That's a lot of saved paper cups! And that's just one day.

What if we used our travel mugs every day?

When you Google Earth Day, this comes up. The Natural Conservancy tells you what five things you can do for the Earth right now. [You don't even need a shovel!]

This year, you can have a "picnic for the planet" by meeting up withpeople in your community.
