Toddler's Grandfather Speaks Out On Jones Co. Drowning | News
Mike Lewis, the grandfather of a Jones County toddler who drowned on Friday, sat down with 13WMAZ on Monday afternoon.
He tells us 21-month-old Robert "Andrew" Moody died after wandering away from home in the blink of an eye.
"Andrew got out of the house somehow, perhaps through the garage, and stumbled down to the lake, just 150 yards away at most," Lewis said.
Lewis tells us he'll always remember a smiling blond-haired, blue-eyed toddler who loved to play peek-a-boo.
"Little Andrew was just a ball of fun and energy," Lewis said. "He's just in heaven now chasing butterflies... He just brought so much life to everybody around him."
Lewis says the family has been overwhelmed by the Hampton Lakes community that has poured out their support.
Andrew's funeral will be held on 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of God of Prophecy on Houston Road in Macon. The burial will take place at the Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Gray.
The family is accepting donations for a trust fund set up through the Robins Federal Credit Union in Andrew's name.
