Milledgeville Woman Killed in Jones County Crash | News

A Milledgeville woman was fatally injured when her SUV collided head-on with another SUV on Highway 49 in Jones County Friday night, according to a coroner.

Jones County assistant coroner Bill Wright says Courtni Carswell of Milledgeville was driving south around 9:30 p.m. when she drifted into oncoming traffic.

Wright says Carswell collided with an SUV driven by Kelli Rutherford of Gray. Carswell died of her injuries.

According to the assistant coroner, Rutherford underwent surgery at the Medical Center for a dislocated hip. He said Rutherford's two children who were riding along were not seriously injured.

Wright says the Jones County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash. No one from the sheriff's office was immediately available to speak with 13WMAZ.
