Jones County Residents Escape House Fire | News

Jones County firefighters responded to a call about a house fire at 319 Hungerford Road shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday.

Three engine companies and a host of volunteers arrived on the scene to fight the blaze at the one story home in the Bradley Community.

"The flames were probably forty to fifty feet through the roof," said Jones County Fire Chief Don Graham.

Owners Shirley Simmons and Herbert Driskell escaped unharmed, but the house was destroyed except for a few walls.

As of Monday afternoon, the cause of the fire is believed to be electrical.
