GEICO Makes Big Contribution to United Way | News
One insurance company in Macon is getting recognition for something other than its talking lizard.
For the ninth straight year, GEICO is United Way of Central Georgia's top contributor. GEICO and its associates pledged $915,449 in 2012.
United Way of Central Georgia's 32 partner agencies depend on GEICO's generosity.
"This was an extremely difficult year to raise money for any effort," said Dan Forrester, United Way of Central Georgia's Campaign Chair. "We were all concerned with the economy. But GEICO employees have always had a desire to give back to the community. For that, we are extremely grateful.
For GEICO employees, the yearly contribution is just one way to insure the well-being of their community.
"It's an investment in our community," said Mary Zarcone, southeastern regional vice president of GEICO. "It's helping people that need assistance. Anything we can do to make our community thrive is in out best interest."
