Gray, GA- Catherine Grimes, 91, of 148 Camelot Road, Gray, Georgia died Sunday, April 1, 2012. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street, with the Reverend Rex Odom officiating. Burial will be private. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 1:00PM until 2:00PM at Hart’s and may be contacted at the residence of Susan and Earl Kitchens, Jr., 148 Camelot Road, Gray, Georgia 31032, telephone number 478-986-4883. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Bass United Methodist Church, 4062 Vineville Avenue, Macon, Georgia 31204.

Sara "Sandy Goolsby

 

Gray-Sara “Sandy” Goolsby, 62, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Funeral services will be at 11:00AM on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Gray United Methodist Church with the Reverend Ricky Varnell, the Reverend Jason Wade, Dr. Wayne Moseley, the Reverend John Haney and Cecil Ethridge officiating. Family will receive friends at Clinton United Methodist Church on Friday from 2:00-3:00PM for prayer and meditation in memory of Sandy. Also, the family will greet friends Thursday from 5:00-7:00PM at Jones Farm in Monticello. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clinton United Methodist Church, 110 Old Highway 18, Gray, Georgia 31032.

Rose Marie Horton

 

Rose Marie Horton Arnold: 73, of Gray, Georgia passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Billy Abney will officiate. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. till 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Born in Macon, She was the daughter of the late Stonewall Jackson Horton and Marie Slaughter Horton. She is the widow of Wallace Aaron Arnold. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Rev. Percy M. Newton

 

Rev. Percy M. Newton, Sr., Preacher Newton as he was fondly called, passed away on Friday January 6, 2010.

Rev. Newton, was born in Dothan, Alabama on August 14, 1913 lived all but nine years of his life in Macon, Georgia. A Southern Baptist Minister for 51 years, he served numerous churches in the Middle Georgia area, including Glenwood Hills Baptist Church in Macon.

He also retired from Joseph N. Neel Co. after 17 years. Rev. Newton was a member of and past president of the Exchange Club of Bibb County, Wolihin Lodge # 390, Knights Templar, Al Sihah Shrine Temple, and Vineville Baptist Church.

James Edwin Goodwin

 

James Edwin Goodwin: 83, of Forsyth, Georgia passed away Saturday, December 31, 2011. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street. Burial will follow in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Chip Grantham will officiate. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Born in Millen, Georgia, he was the son of the late William K. Goodwin and Mary Beatrice Womack Goodwin. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Ann Sexton Goodwin. Mr. Goodwin was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army, Fourth Infantry Division.

D.C. Palmer

 

Gray- D C Palmer, 87, of 325 Creekside Drive, died Monday, December 5, 2011. Services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11:00AM at Northridge Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Bruner and the Reverend Klay Aspinwall officiating. Burial will be private at Georgia Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville, Georgia. The family will greet friends on Friday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Hart’s Mortuary on Cherry Street.

Phyllis Jones

 

Gray- Phyllis Lovatt Jones, 82, of 144 East Clinton Street, Gray, GA, died Thursday, October 6, 2011. Services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street, with Dr. Rick Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park. The family may be contacted at 142 East Clinton Street and will greet friends on Saturday from 1:00PM until 2:00PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Macon, Georgia 31201.

Mrs. Jones, daughter of the late Benjamin and Lizbeth Lovatt, was a member of Cross Keys United Methodist Church. She was employed at the Mercer University Law School Bookstore for more than fifty years.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her son, Richard Jones (Lynne) of Gray and daughter, Shirley Adler (Don) of Eastman; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
