Noah Martin

Gray- Noah David Martin, Sr., passed away Friday, September 2, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM, Tuesday, September 6, 2011, in the chapel of Hart’s Mortuary on Cherry Street with Brother Sid Davidson officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, September 5, 2011, from 7:00PM until 9:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Middle GA Memory Gardens. Survivors: Wife, Zoye Martin; Daughter, Tonya Martin (John Allen) Minshew; Son, Noah David (Lora) Martin, Jr.; Grandchildren, Adam Martin, Alaina Minshew, Alex Martin; Andrew Minshew and Austin Martin; Great grandchildren, Payton Martin and Haylee Martin. Hart’s Mortuary and Crematory, Cherry Street, has charge of arrangements.

Anne Shipps

Anne Elizabeth Shipps: 90, died on August 11, 2011 at her home in Bloomington, Indiana where she had lived for three years after extended residences in California and Texas. Born in Macon, she was the daughter of the late Harrold S. Shipps and Mary Wimberly Shipps. She is survived by two brothers, Harrold S. Shipps Jr. of Durango, Colorado and Anthony W. Shipps of Bloomington, Indiana, their wives, and several nieces and nephews. During World War II, Anne served as a nurse in the U.S. Army. After the war she worked as a nurse and bookkeeper. Following early retirement, she and a colleague, Harry Jones of Austin, Texas, established a ministry to persecuted Christians throughout the world. It was known as “Unto the Least of These, Inc.” A graveside service for her will be conducted by the Reverend Tom Ivey in the Wimberly family lot in Rose Hill Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 15, 2011. Carleen Branch

EATONTON - Carleen Y. Branch, 54, of Brer Bear Rd., passed away Friday in Macon.

Memorial Services will be held Sunday July 24, 2011 at 2:00PM at the residence of Mr.& Mrs. Larry Haskins, 114 Collins Dr., Gray, GA.

Ms. Branch was born in Macon, GA the daughter of the late Carlton and Bobbie Jewel Hopper Branch. She was a homemaker.

Frank Hawkins

 

Gray- Frank Hawkins, 74, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at 11:00AM, in Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Jones County. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until 11:00AM at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Central GA Chapter, 277 MLK Jr. Blvd, Suite 201, Macon, GA 31201 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. 4406, Macon, GA 31208.

Mr. Hawkins loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He owned a dairy farm for 34 years and Cedar Creek Construction Company for 35 years. Mr. Hawkins was also a member of the Moose Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fay Wheeler Hawkins, and by his parents, Rosa May Hawkins and Millard Hunt Hawkins.

Highway Dedication

Carl Hamrick Highway will be dedicated at the Government Center conference room on Tuesday, June 21.

"Carlton Grady "Carl" Hamrick was highly regarded by the citizens of Jones County and by local government officials as a person of unquestioned integrity," a Georgia General Assembly document says.

The document also says Hamrick graduated from Jones County High School in 1972.

 

Ivy Knight

 

Juliette- Ivy Doyce Knight, 72, of Juliette, Georgia, passed away on June 14, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Faye Brake Knight; children, Tommy (Peggy) Knight, Sandy (Perry) Cook and Derrick (Christy) Knight; grandchildren, Justin Knight, Cassie and Candice Cook, Christian and Calen Knight.

Memorial services will be held at Bethany Baptist Church in Bolingbroke on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 6:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Baptist Building Fund or to the donor’s favorite charity.
