Senator Cecil Staton Earns Perfect Score and A+ from Georgia Chamber

 

ATLANTA – Sen. Cecil Staton (R- Macon) has received the highest ranking given on the Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative Scorecard. The Chamber’s legislative scorecard recognizes legislators that were most supportive of the business community during the 2012 Legislative Session.

“It is truly an honor to be recognized by the Georgia Chamber for my efforts to enact pro-business legislation aimed at strengthening Georgia’s private sector and our economy,” said Sen. Staton. “Serving as a member of the Senate Rules, Senate Appropriations, Senate Finance and Senate Banking and Financial Institutions Committees, as well as Majority Whip, it was a privilege to work with legislators and interested stakeholders to make Georgia a better place to live, work and do business.”

Miss Daylily Pageant Rescheduled for May

GRAY, GA.--The Second Annual Miss Daylily Pageant is set for May 12.

Originally, the date was in April, but has been rescheduled.

The pageant happens at W.E. Knox Civic Center starting with Miss, Teen and Junior at 2:30 p.m. and the Little, Tiny and Wee age groups start at 4:00 p.m. Contestants must be middle Georgia residents.

Old Clinton War Days Returns to Gray

The  31st annual Old Clinton War Days will be held in Old Clinton, Georgia, Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6.

 

Authentic camps open to the public beginning at 10:05 a.m. each day featuring period demonstrations and walking tours of the area. Food and hand crafted items will be available for purchase. A narration of battle history begins at 1:35 p.m. each day.

On Saturday, the Battle of Sunshine Church will be presented at 2:05 p.m., with the closing of the camp at 5:05 p.m. and a free memorial service at the Old Clinton Cemetery at 8:05 p.m.    

Sunday features an 11:05 a.m. church service at the McCarthy/Pope House and the Battle of Griswoldville at 2:05 p.m. followed by the closing of the camp at 4:05 p.m.

Air Show Features Blue Angels

ROBINS, AFB., GA.--The Air Show lineup features performers including the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, F-18 Hornets, the C-130 Hercules, and the Air Force F-22 Raptor.

The air show is free and open to the public and starts at 11:30 a.m.

You can park at the Macon Airport, McConnell-Talbert Stadium and Anchor Glass and then catch bus transportation to the show. The shuttle starts at 9:45 a.m. both days and gates open at 10 a.m.

The shuttle runs until 5 p.m.

We need to cleanup, fix-up, paint-up, and green-up.  Keep Jones Beautiful Commission needs you to volunteer for this events. 

We need clubs, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, businesses, community leaders, schools, garden clubs, organizations, community groups, sororities, fraternities, sports teams, bicycle clubs, etc to help cleanup and beautify Jones County.

Gray Fire Department Collects Cans to Benefit Burn Foundation

GRAY, GA.--The City of Gray Fire Department is helping raise funds for the Southeastern Firefighters Burn Foundation, a SFBF news release says.

They're doing this by collecting aluminum cans for the "Can-It!' collection.

The funds help families of burn patients at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta.

Drop off your aluminum cans at the can wagon at the fire department's headquarters at  111 James Street in Gray
