Volunteers Needed for Animal Control

Volunteers are desperately needed at Warner Robins Animal Control and at all of our local rescues.  The day to day management of an Animal Control Facility is no easy job.

They may open to the public at 10 a.m., but in reality are open much earlier getting the shelter ready for the public.

Pets have to be moved and pens/cages cleaned and disinfected.  That in itself is a cold wet job.  In the cat rooms the newspaper has to be cleaned out before cleaning and disinfection.  Litter boxes have to be dumped, disinfected, washed and dried then refilled.  Food and water bowls are collected, washed, dried then restocked to feed everyone.  Towels have to be washed, dried and folded.

Chicken Jerky May Cause Sickness in Dogs

Chicken Jerky May Cause Sickness in Dogs

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, chicken jerky dog treats made in China are once again causing sickness in pets.

Citing an FDA warning issued in November, the AVMA said it has received reports from the Canadian Veterinary medical Association of illnesses similar to the cases reported in 2007.

While the specific cause of the problem in 2007 was never pinpointed, the FDA says reported cases of illnesses in dogs given chicken jerky treats made in China are on the rise again.

Single Guy, Loves Long Walks and Snuggling

Single Guy, Loves Long Walks and Snuggling

Coal is a special gentleman, well-mannered and friendly. He's looking for a home where he will be loved for the rest of his days, a home where he can finally, freely give the love stored up in his lonely heart.

The volunteers enjoy walking Coal, and he has a wonderful time with them, but what this gentle dog really wants is a home of his own and a person he can, finally, count on never to leave him.

Coal, ID #A244917 is at Macon Animal Control, and his time is running out.

Like Coal, Kringles' life is measured in hours, not years. Kringles, ID #A244927, is also at Macon Animal Control, and with the shelter running out of room, both dogs are due to be killed very soon if they are not adopted.

Unfortunately, they are not the only ones. At least one other dog, Snowflake, is on "the list," too.

How 20 Pounds Changed My Life - In an Instant!

This weekend was a typically busy one. House cleaning, events, kids’ birthday parties, a new dog…  Wait, a new dog! That’s not typical, nor was it very planned.  That is so not my style!

With some time to kill while the kids were at a birthday party, my husband suggested we stroll through PetSmart. After appropriately bantering about the birds and rodents, we ended up at the adoption area. We loved on the kittens and then made our way to the dogs where the biggest pair of brown eyes looked up at me and said “Mommy, take me home!”

Now I am usually a sap when it comes to kittens and puppies but I generally can walk away. But this time was different. So to make a long story short, we came home with Joie, a 4-month-old black lab mix with the sweetest disposition and, of course, the sweetest pair of eyes around!
