Many of you may see a prominent ring or "halo" around the sun today.

According to astronomers, these halos are caused by ice crystals in the cirrus clouds high up in the atmosphere.

Do be careful if you are trying to view this phenomenon in the sky because even the shortest exposure to sunlight directly into your eyes could cause permanent eye damage.
