Gift tips for the golfer in your life

Jim Hickman with the Brickyard Golf Course says the first step is to talk to your golfer or be a little sly and look in their golf bag. Find out what size glove they wear, maybe see what brand of golf balls they use.

Hickman says if the person you're buying for has a low handicap, you may want to go with a higher priced golf ball. If they are more like a weekend golfer with a high handicap, you can go with a less expensive ball.

Golfers need socks, and there is a difference between buying a pair at the pro-shop or at the regular store. Hickman says manufactured golf socks have extra padding and special wicking fibers.

If you're looking to spend a little more money, you may want to consider getting a hybrid club. They are right around a hundred dollars or less.

Hickman says the most important thing is to chat with a PGA professional. Many big box sports stores have one on staff or you can chat with one at your local golf course.
